    Message from our Principal
I believe that children deserve an education that will enable to them to become the leaders of their generation. It is our responsibility to teach and prepare children to become lifelong learners who aspire to do great things. This school year, there will be much that I expect from you. I will be clear about my expectations for you, as well as what you can expect from me.

My personal values are patience, honesty, and dedication. These qualities are most important to me and I call them my PHD. Working closely with children requires that we maintain these qualities. I expect that you will have the utmost patience on those days when the challenges of teaching are so great that you’re approaching what may appear to be the last ray of hope. Take a deep breath and forge ahead again because we are not only patient and passionate, but also dedicated to our purpose. We teach, this is why we were placed on the planet. Honesty allows us to remain true to ourselves and others.

When you see me in and around our school building, I want you to look for the following qualities: someone who is responsible for all things Cherry Street, an enthusiastic team builder, a supportive leader who is accessible to staff and students, and finally, a dedicated professional who comes dressed for success.  When I come to your classroom, I will be looking for hte following: engaging, creative teaching; participatory, hands-on learning; a nurturing, caring environment where the needs of individual learners are met; an effective classroom manager; and finally a collaborative professional who embraces change.  What you do in your classroom when I am not looking is so very important to me.
Gossip, pessimism and disrespect are not welcomed in our professional learning community and will not be tolerated.  I find it challenging to work with people that are dishonest and people who through their actions appear to dislike children and/or their chosen profession.
Creating an environment where children achieve success is a priority for each and every one of us. We must begin each day with hope in our greeting. We have to acknowledge that sometimes we may fall short. In our professional learning community we must work together collaboratively and make the necessary adjustment so that our students can be successful. We must share what we are good at with our colleagues. Don’t be afraid to toot your horn! Best practices should never be secret. We must model everything we wish our children to learn, including manners. Allow our students to overhear us saying something positive about them. Know each one of our students as individual learners and remember to include parents and guardians every step of the way. Planning for a successful tomorrow begins today. We don’t have a minute to waste.
