Our Principal's Leadership Philosophy |
When I think of good leadership I immediately think of great leaders from the past, like Martin Luther King, John F. Kennedy and Nelson Mandela. They had a philosophy that millions could recite and a mission that was embraced by their supporters. These leaders were respected even by their opponents because of their passion for change.
Good leadership is paramount to the success of every organization no matter how large or small. The values of the leader are also critical to its triumphs. With much heartfelt reflection, I have concluded that I set great store by loyalty, teamwork, communication, order and organization, competence and trust, resourcefulness, community and directness. These core values are important to me because without them I would not be able to fulfill my daily responsibilities as principal. For me, it is also vital that the high school foster a sense of community; that we all take the time to show our young people that we care about them and that we all put forth the effort to ensure their success.
Finally, my non-negotiables are just that, non-negotiable. I expect that my staff and students will be at their assignments on time. I expect my staff and students to treat each other with respect at all times. I expect my staff to be prepared to provide all BHS students with the same quality instruction that they expect for their own children. I expect my staff to contact parents frequently for both positive and negative behaviors/academic progress. Lastly, I also expect all BHS students to follow the overarching school wide goals: Be Respectful! Act Responsibly! Aspire Higher! |
