Firmly established as a K-8 school after three years, Broad Sreet School is on the move. We are looking forward to a challenging year during 2008-2009 with increased student achievement as our central focus. We will again work especially hard to provide a quality education to our students.
Broad Street News
The 8th grade classes at Broad Street School have won the “Care Where You Are” Sweepstakes, a national sweepstakes sponsored by Scholastic Book Clubs, and will soon be donating their prize – 500 books from Scholastic. The prize winners were participants in Scholastic Book Clubs’ ClassroomsCare program – a philanthropic literacy initiative that encourages reading by asking classrooms across the country to read 100 books, and in turn, Scholastic Book Clubs will donate up to 1 million books to kids in need!
We were one of only 200 classes across the nation to win the prize out of almost 16,000 classes that entered the sweepstakes.
ClassroomsCare is designed to empower students around the country to make a difference in the world. The program distributes more than 1 million books each year. This year, with the addition of 100,000 books being donated to countless organizations through the winners of the“Care Where You Are” Sweepstakes, ClassroomsCare is extending its reach even further.
My students and I are so excited that we won the sweepstakes and now are asking for your help. We would like to divide our 500 books into 10 separate donations and are requesting suggestions for organizations in need. Please let us know of any local organization that is in need of a multi-level library.
Message from our Principal
We wish to welcome you and your child to Broad Street School for the 2008-2009 school year. Several changes have been made since the last school year. We have added some new teachers and increased our instructional programs in some areas. The building is bright, cheerful, and has a warm atmosphere.
We invite you to become a part of your school. You are welcome to visit the school at anytime. Please make sure that you enter the school on the LAWRENCE STREET side and pick up a VISITOR PASS from the security personnel at the door. You may also call and make an appointment to see your child's teacher, when necessary.
Broad Street School is an excellent school which offers children a wealth of learning and growing experiences both in the classroom and in school-related activities. With everyone's positive participation and support, we can accomplish great things. Positive gains in student testing in 2007-2008 were made, and continued results are anticipated.
We are looking forward to working with you this year. We are here each day from 7:45am to 3:45pm in order to address your concerns, listen to your ideas, or work with you to solve problems. Remember, our doors are always open to you! If you need to speak to a member of our staff, please call (856) 455-8030 x3000.
Please join us in making this year a tremendous success!
