Director of Student Services

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. A Master’s degree
  2. Principal Certificate or eligibility
  3. Demonstrated knowledge of student services
  4. Demonstrated competency in statistical analysis
  5. Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status

REPORTS TO:

Assistant Superintendent of Special Education & Student Services

JOB GOALS:

Implementing and maintaining student service programs in conformance with district and state objectives as well as improving student achievement through the analysis of district and school-level data.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Develop, oversee, and coordinate all activities related to NJSMART. The Director must work with appropriate staff members to ensure that the data is accurately submitted to NJSMART.
  2. Oversee, monitor, and ensure the development and implementation of staff and students' 504 Plans in PreK-12.
  3. Oversee Crisis Intervention Specialists, Trainers, Social, and Emotional Learning Specialists, All Counselors/ Supervisor, School Career Coordinator/ Supervisor, SAC-Coordinator,
  4. Coordinates and monitors all district and state standardized testing programs. Must ensure completion and submission of the district comprehensive equity plan to the State.
  5. Manages and oversees the K-12 guidance department for the purpose of delivering services which conform to established guidelines and regulations.
  6. Monitors projects and programs for the purpose of ensuring that student services comply with district, state and federal requirements.
  7. Manages and works with staff for the purpose of identifying students who are not making adequate academic progress and assists with appropriate interventions.
  8. Ensures that all practices in the district are legal and ethical for each student/family so that each child has the opportunity to achieve at a high level and be prepared for post-secondary success.
  9. Develops long and short-range plans/programs and annual budgets for the purpose of ensuring that the district’s resources are effectively utilized.
  10. Monitors student services fund balances of assigned programs and related financial activity for the purpose of ensuring that allocations are accurate and expenses are within budget limits and/or fiscal practices are followed.
  11. Coordinates and monitors all district and state standardized testing programs.
  12. Develops, administers, and analyzes surveys to gather information from students, staff, and parents.
  13. Provide assistance to district staff in analysis and interpretation of district and school-level data.
  14. Collaborates with others (e.g. district personnel, community organizations, etc.) for the purpose of implementing and/or maintaining student services and programs, and to identify and assess student needs.
  15. Frequently collaborates with the Assistant Superintendent of Special Education & Student Services to analyze student services trends and needs.
  16. Develop a district wide Diversity, Inclusion, and Equity team to ensure compliance with new State and Federal regulations.

  18. The Director will coordinate and monitor compliance with home instruction by assisting Home Instruction Secretary.
  19. Perform such other duties as required by the Assistant Superintendent of Special Education & Student Services.

TERM OF EMPLOYMENT:

12 Months. Salary to be determined by the Board of Education.

EVALUATION:

Performance will be evaluated in accordance with Board policies and procedures on the evaluation of professional staff.
