POSITION:

District Translator

REPORTS TO:

Assistant Superintendent of Special Education and Student Services

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. High School Diploma or equivalent
  2. Fluency in English and Spanish languages
  3. Professional experience in written English/Spanish Translations.
  4. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Programs

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Provide accurate and timely translations from English to Spanish of written materials assigned by Assistant Superintendent of Special Education and Student Services.
  2. Enter translations with correct spelling and appropriate accents into pertinent computer programs.
  3. Serve as interpreter as needed by the district.
  4. Attend conferences/workshops specific to bilingual issues.
  5. Translate, type, and distribute letters and other official correspondence to bilingual/ESL staff.
  6. Maintain files of bilingual/ESL students.
  7. Type and distribute office correspondence to bilingual students and programs.
  8. Prepare monthly reports concerning bilingual students and programs.
  9. Type and file regular correspondence in and out of the office.
  10. Assist in typing state and federal reports, travel vouchers, etc.
  11. Perform other duties as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent of Special Education and Student Services.

TERM OF EMPLOYMENT:

12 Months. Salary to be determined by the Board of Education.

EVALUATION:

Performance will be evaluated in accordance with Board policies and procedures on the evaluation of professional staff.
