POSITION:

Security Monitor

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. A minimum of a High School Diploma.
  2. Security background or training.
  3. Knowledge and experience in the area of school safety and security, preferred.
  4. Knowledge of communications/dispatch.
  5. Possesses good human relations, communications and motivational skills.
  6. Exhibits sensitivity for the varying cultural differences of school students.
  7. Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status.
  8. Must be able to follow directions.
  9. Must be able to work with other people.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the direction of the Director of School Safety and Security; Assistant Director of School Safety and Security.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Assist the school administrators and teachers in the supervision of school corridors, lavatories, cafeterias, and any other designated areas.
  2. Report all infractions of school policies, rules, and/or regulations. Report all acts of vandalism, any disturbances, and/or disorderly conduct to the principal or his designee.
  3. Protect school property from willful destruction and protect teacher and student property from loss or destruction.
  4. Inspect for identifications or monitor students for proper passes when they are not in their respective classrooms.
  5. Check identification of any and all visitors to the schools, make sure they are in the building for legitimate purposes.
  6. Report to work on time and remain on duty until your shift is completed.
  7. Take only the allotted time for breaks and lunch.
  8. Perform any other duties assigned by the Director of School Safety and Security, building Principal or their designee.
  9. Assist with student evacuations during any fire drills or other emergency drills, whether practice or real.
  10. Assist in securing the school building in emergency lockdown procedures.
  11. Perform all other duties which may be assigned to the Monitor by the Director of School Safety and Security/Assistant Director of School Safety and Security. Prior to the hiring of Security Monitors, the candidates must complete the Security Monitor application and participate in an interview procedure. Once the Board hires the Monitor, he/she will be placed under the direct supervision of the Director of School Safety and Security who will conduct the evaluation on the Monitor. The reports will be sent directly to the Superintendent of Schools. The Superintendent will make the reports available to the members of the Board of Education. The Board reserves unto itself the right to dismiss the Security Monitor.

  • Navy blue pants
  • American Blue polo shirt with Collar
  • Comfortable black walking shoes

TERM OF EMPLOYMENT:

10 months

EVALUATION:

Performance will be evaluated in accordance with Board policies and procedures on the evaluation of professional staff.
