POSITION:

SPECIAL EDUCATION- COMPLIANCE SPECIALIST

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Bachelor's Degree required from an accredited college or university, preferred in Statistics or Finance.
  2. Knowledge of State and Federal Regulations in Special Education
  3. Effective oral and written communication skills.
  4. Must be able to accurately compile and interpret data, summarize information, and provide reports to Assistant Superintendent of Special Education and Student Services.
  5. Strong Public Relations skills and ability to understand and articulate district policy/state code and procedures to parents/guardians.
  6. Knowledgeable about current technological applications.
  7. Experience organizing and facilitating data reports.
  8. Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status.

REPORTS TO:

The Special Education Compliance Specialist is directly responsible to the Assistant Superintendent of Special Education and Student Services.

JOB GOAL:

Under the direction of Assistant Superintendent of Special Education, prepares reports required by state and federal agencies in a timely manner.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Analyzes special education data in order to assist the Department in identifying and implementing appropriate support and intervention strategies necessary to provide provisional services that meet the needs of students with disabilities in their least restrictive environment (LRE).
  2. Attends a variety of internal meetings and assist with mediation and complaint investigation hearing.
  3. Liaison for Special Education for SEMI Program Coordination and Implementation.
  4. Manage Special Education data integrity by regularly performing audits of the data and the procedures for entering the data.
  5. Monitors and Coordinates SEMI program and ensure related services documentation are completed in a timely manner to ensure compliance at all time.
  6. Researches and investigates information pertaining to support of students with disabilities in order to enable strategic decisions made by the Assistant Superintendent of Special Education and Student Services.
  7. Conducts in-house audits of student records to ensure compliance with NJ Administrative code governing services for Children with Disabilities.
  8. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent of Special Education and Student Services & Supervisor of Special Education.

TERM OF EMPLOYMENT:

12 Months. Salary to be determined by the Board of Education.

EVALUATION:

Performance will be evaluated in accordance with Board policies and procedures.
