Supervisor of Guidance 9-12

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Director of School Counseling Services Certificate
  2. Five (5) years teaching experience
  3. Minimum three (3) years experience as a Guidance Counselor
  4. Leadership, organization and instructional management skills

REPORTS TO:

Director of Student Services and High School Principal

JOB GOAL:

Utilizing leadership, advocacy, and collaboration, the supervisor of guidance 9-12 shall promote student success, provide preventive services, and respond to identified student needs by implementing a comprehensive school guidance program that addresses academic, career and social/emotional development for all students.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Develop and implement group programs for students and parents in areas such as course selections, educational planning, financial aid, career development and self-understanding.
  2. Maintain contact with representatives of different educational institutions (colleges, technical schools, industries, etc.)
  3. Arrange and schedule opportunities for educational and career representatives to meet with interested pupils.
  4. Develop class rankings.
  5. Prepare school profiles for colleges and employers.
  6. Develop the master schedule for all students.
  7. Prepare the financial budget of items pertinent to the operation of the BHS guidance department.
  8. Assist in and oversee the preparation of transcripts, letters of recommendation, etc.
  9. Be responsible for overall administration of BHS testing procedures.
  10. Maintain guidance related student records and interpretation of the same to appropriate sources.
  11. Supervise and evaluate all counselors 9-12.
  12. Track and provide credit completion and/or credit recovery programs to any students that are in need throughout all semesters as necessary.
  13. Submit to the Director of Student Services and BHS Principal a monthly and yearly report on school counseling and guidance related activities that lead to improved student learning and performance outcomes.
  14. Perform all other related duties assigned by the Director of Student Services and BHS Principal.

TERM OF EMPLOYMENT:

12 Months. Salary to be determined by the Board of Education.

EVALUATION:

Performance will be evaluated in accordance with Board policies and procedures on the evaluation of professional staff.
