POSITION:

Master Teacher, K- 8

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Bachelor's degree and teacher certification.
  2. Three to five years teaching experience, with students whose grade levels include K-8.
  3. Experience facilitating workshops and training sessions
  4. Experience in design and implementation of district curriculum and State Standards.
  5. Experience developing, administering, and interpreting district benchmarks and state assessments.
  6. Professional demeanor/strong and supportive interpersonal skills
  7. Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status.

REPORTS TO:

Assistant Superintendent & Director(s) of Curriculum

JOB GOAL:

The Master Teacher will assist teachers in research-based effective teaching practices and the use of student assessment for the purpose of improving learning and instruction.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Model and provide feedback to teachers in implementing district curriculum.
  2. Provide content knowledge and resources about learning and teaching of the core programs - including teaching strategies, assessment techniques, interpretation of assessment results, classroom routines and instructional practices that promote success, etc.
  3. Model and teach the instructional practices that are associated with student learning and are required by the district.
  4. In collaboration with the Office of Curriculum & Instruction, assist with the development and implementation of district and school-level professional development.
  5. Examine professional development and evaluation feedback. Under the direction of The Office of Curriculum & Instruction, provide supports for teachers to implement skills acquired through professional development trainings.
  6. Coordinate resources with the l&RS Team to provide supports for teachers with students needing interventions.
  7. Turnkey training information via staff meetings and PLCs. Distribute said information to support teachers' use of materials associated with best instructional practices.
  8. Communicate to the broader academic community via the district's Curriculum Newsletter.
  9. Maintain accurate and detailed paperwork on planning, modeling and trainings. Report as requested.
  10. Keep abreast of current research-based regarding classroom technologies.
  11. Perform such other duties as assigned by the district administration.

TERM OF EMPLOYMENT:

10 Months. Salary to be determined by the Board of Education.

EVALUATION:

Performance will be evaluated in accordance with Board policies and procedures on the evaluation of professional staff.
