Business Office

The Business Department is responsible for all aspects of school district financial management including: budgeting, accounting, payroll, accounts payable, and purchasing. Our purpose is to provide the resources necessary to achieve the alignment with the district's mission and goals. We are dedicated to providing support to schools and departments in order to raise student achievement and provide a safe, secure learning environment. In addition, it is our responsibility to efficiently and accurately provide the schools, students, and community with budget, financial planning, and related services in order to carry out the responsibilities of the district.

 The information presented in columns 1 through 3 as well as the related descriptions of the per pupil cost calculations
 are contained in the 2011 Comparative Spending Guide and can be found on the Department of Education's Internet address:
 http://www.state.nj.us/ education under Finance, when available.  This publication is available in the board office and public
 libraries.  The same calculations were performed using the 2010-11 revised appropriations and 2011-12 budgeted appropriations
 presented in this advertised budget.  Total Comparative Per Pupil Cost is defined as current expense exclusive of tuition
 expenditures, transportation, residential costs, and judgments against the school district. For all years, it also
 includes the restricted entitlement aids.  With the exception of Total Equipment Cost, each of the other per pupil cost
 calculations presented is a component of the total comparative per pupil cost, although all components are not shown.
 2008-09 actual, 2009-10 actual, 2010-11 original, 2010-11 revised, and 2011-12 amounts include a total of $ 465, 
 $459,  $605,  $609, and $ 498 per pupil, respectively, in federal and state funds in the blended resource
 school-based budgets.

Shared Services -- Description of Shared Services

  Bridgeton participates in the following shared services:  cumberland coun
  ty transportaion consortium, cumberland county recycling center for trash
   services, MSCRRS purchasing consorium, shared services with the City for
   salt and maintenance equipment.  The district continues to explore oppor
  tunities to share services with the City.

 are contained in the 2010 Comparative Spending Guide and can be found on the Department of Education's Internet address:
 http://www.state.nj.us/ education under Finance, when available.  This publication is available in the board office and public
 libraries.  The same calculations were performed using the 2009-10 revised appropriations and 2010-11 budgeted appropriations
 presented in this advertised budget.  Total Comparative Per Pupil Cost is defined as current expense exclusive of tuition
 expenditures, transportation, residential costs, and judgments against the school district. For all years, it also
 includes the restricted entitlement aids.  With the exception of Total Equipment Cost, each of the other per pupil cost
 calculations presented is a component of the total comparative per pupil cost, although all components are not shown.
 2007-08 actual, 2008-09 actual, 2009-10 original, 2009-10 revised, and 2010-11 amounts include a total of $ 62, 
 $543,  $476,  $475, and $ 605 per pupil, respectively, in federal and state funds in the blended resource
 school-based budgets.

Shared Services -- Description of Shared Services

  The district participates in numerous shared servies including the follow
  ing:  provides business services to Downe TWP public schools, participate
  s in the cumberland county transportaion consortium, participates with th
  e county for recyclable pick up, participates in the MSCRRS purchasing co
  sortium, participates with the city for salt and shares assistance with m
  aintenance equipment. Further, we are exploring adding CST services to th
  e agreement with Downe Twp and are exploring other opportunities to work

 publication is available in the board office and public libraries.  The same calculations were performed using the 2011-12
 revised appropriations and 2012-13 budgeted appropriations presented in this advertised budget.  Total Budgetary Comparative
 Per Pupil Cost is defined as current expense exclusive of tuition expenditures, transportation, residential costs, and
 judgments against the school district. For all years, it also includes the restricted entitlement aids.  With the exception
 of Total Equipment Cost, each of the other per pupil cost calculations presented is a component of the total Budgetary
 comparative per pupil cost, although all components are not shown.
