Keith Miles
Superintendent
Dr. Keith Miles is Superintendent of Bridgeton Public Schools where he has served since July 2020. He was born in Washington, DC, where he also attended elementary school. Dr. Miles graduated from Eleanor Roosevelt High School in 1999, located in Greenbelt, MD. While in high school, he played in the band, studied Spanish, and he completed an internship at the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) working in a laboratory to study the antioxidant capacity of strawberries and blackberries. After graduation, he attended the George Washington University on an academic and music scholarship. He double majored at GW receiving a BA in Biology and Spanish Language and Literature. After receiving his MS degree from the University of Maryland College Park, he returned to GW and received his doctoral degree in Educational Administration and Policy in 2018.
Dr. Miles is a lifelong learner, who has dedicated his career to ensuring all students, regardless of challenges or setbacks, are afforded the same life-changing opportunities he was afforded to pursue his dreams. In addition to his formal education, Dr. Miles has completed a Principals Academy Fellowship, a New Superintendents Academy, and an Executive Leadership Certificate program through Cornell University. Throughout his career, Dr. Miles has received numerous awards to include the Prince George’s County Teacher of the Year award, a community Principal of the Year award, a Service Award from the National Stop the Violence Alliance while working in Camden, and a Dr. King award from the Vineland African American Community Development Coalition in 2021. Back in 2015, Dr. Miles served as an advisor to the US Secretary of Education as part of Secretary Arne Duncan’s Principals at USDOE initiative. Dr. Miles has consistently sought out challenging and meaningful posts teaching in Oxon Hill, MD, serving as Principal in Philadelphia, PA, and Camden, NJ, and serving as Assistant Superintendent in Trenton, NJ. In all the places where he has served, Dr. Miles has worked to level the playing field by ensuring all students have access to critical resources and opportunities. He remains committed and devoted to delivering on this same promise for the students of Bridgeton Public Schools.
