Gifted and Talented Program

The Bridgeton Public Schools Gifted And Talented Program

WHAT IS THE GIFTED & TALENTED PROGRAM?

  • The Gifted & Talented Program is school-day program that provides meaningful and relevant learning experiences to meet the needs of students with exceptional abilities.
  • The program is designed to be responsive and meet a student's intellectual, creative, and social-emotional needs while helping them reach their full potential. The program is designed to encourage students curiosity and creativity and nurture their development as learners and leaders.
  • Students in the program will work on individual and group projects on topics of interest to them. These projects will integrate the arts, language-arts literacy, social studies, science and math.
  • G & T classes will meet during the school day. Students in grades 3 - 8 will meet for one class period, twice a week. Students in grades K - 2 will meet for one class period, once per week.

  • advance their leadership ability;
  • use self, peer, and teacher evaluation and feedback positively as a means for growth;
  • accept that methods and ideas may vary according to circumstances and perceptions;
  • set goals and devise plans to finish projects and activities.

HOW ARE STUDENTS CHOSEN FOR THE PROGRAM?

  • Students are selected for the program in multiple ways, including teacher recommendations, parent recommendations, self-recommendations (students in grades 3-8), standardized tests, creativity tests, and arts assessments.
