POSITION:

Bilingual Master Teacher, K- 8

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Bachelor's degree and teacher certification. Bilingual Certificate required
  2. Three to five years teaching experience, with students whose grade levels include K-8.
  3. Experience facilitating workshops and training sessions
  4. Experience in design and implementation of district curriculum and State Standards,
  5. Experience developing, administering, and interpreting district benchmarks and state assessments.
  6. Professional demeanor/strong and supportive interpersonal skills
  7. Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status.

REPORTS TO:

Building Principal and Director of Bilingual Education

JOB GOAL:

The Master Teacher will assist teachers in research-based effective teaching practices and the use of student assessment for the purpose of improving learning and instruction.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Assist the Building Principal, Director and the Supervisor of Bilingual Education to monitor the implementation of district curriculum in assigned content area(s), to reflect New Jersey Learning Standards, WIDA English Language Proficiency Standards, the Guiding Principles and the Pillars of Dual Language Education.
  2. Assist the Building Principal, Director and the Supervisor of Bilingual Education in the development of professional development and with the selection of workshops that are congruent with the district’s goals.
  3. Model and provide feedback to Bilingual teachers in implementing district curriculum, and in particular, the Dual Language Program and the Spanish Phonics program in Bilingual and Dual Language classes.
  4. Collaborate with the Building Principal, Director and the Supervisor of Bilingual Education in analyzing student data to ensure proper placement of Bilingual students.
  5. Assist the Building Principal, Director and the Supervisor of Bilingual Education in communicating district goals, programs, performance and initiatives to parents through the Bilingual Parent Advisory Council, and other forms of communication.
  6. Provide content knowledge and resources about learning and teaching of the core programs in Bilingual and Dual language settings.
  7. Under the direction of the Building Principal, Director of Bilingual Education, collaborate with the Office of Curriculum & Instruction in the development and the implementation of professional development.
  8. Examine professional development and evaluation feedback of Bilingual teachers, under the direction of the Director and Supervisor of Bilingual education.
  9. Turnkey training information via Bilingual articulation meetings, PLC meetings and staff meetings. Distribute said information to support teachers’ use of materials associated with best instructional practices.
  10. Maintain accurate and detailed paperwork on planning, modeling and trainings, and provide reports as requested by the Building Principal, Director of Bilingual education.
  11. Keep abreast of current research-based strategies for English Learners.
  12. Perform such other duties as assigned by the building principal and district administration.

TERM OF EMPLOYMENT:

10 Months. Salary to be determined by the Board of Education.

TERM OF EMPLOYMENT:

Performance will be evaluated in accordance with Board policies and procedures on the evaluation of professional staff.
