POSITION:
District Administrative Software Specialist
QUALIFICATIONS:
- BS or BA Degree
- Strong background in Administrative Software Packages
- Background in Help Desk services
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Full-time work experience in maintenance, configuration, repair and installation of information, technology equipment and software, as defined below.
- Working knowledge of Windows (98, NT, XP, 2000), Unix and providing Help Desk services.
- Work experience in a CISCO network
- Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship
REPORTS TO:
Director of Technology
JOB GOAL:
Provide district-wide Administrative Software Package support, and maintenance and help desk services. Maintain and support software and equipment throughout the school district.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides help desk services for:
a. Technology staff
b. Administrative staff
c. Building staff
- Provides support for the following administrative software packages:
a. Genesis
b. NJ SMART
c. Tracker/WebTrack
d. VersaTrans
e. Any new software systems purchased in the future
f. Any technology hardware (MAC, Dell, HP, Xerox, Epson)
- Provides technical training for:
a. Technology staff
b. Administrative staff
c. Administrative/Annex Building staff
d. Teachers
- Develops and maintains import/export data sets.
- Coordinates the development and maintains reports, report cards, and transcripts.
- Develops and maintains backup procedures and practices for administrative software packages.
- Acts as resource person, giving demonstrations, training, and/or sharing articles and materials as requested by staff and/or administration, for administrative software packages.
- Administers the district administrative software package servers.
- Upgrades/replaces equipment, software and operating systems at the administration building and the annex.
- Previews software programs, reads journals and articles, attends conferences, demonstrations and workshops, networks with others in the field to keep abreast of trends and significant developments in technology.
- Assists in long range planning for district administrative software packages in unison with the District Technology Plan.
- Meets regularly with the District Technology Coordinator and ongoing committees to articulate and address administrative software package questions, initiatives or concerns.
- Demonstrates a willingness to devote the additional time and attention required to resolve emergency situations when hardware or software is malfunctioning.
- Conducts needs assessments and makes annual budgeting recommendations for all schools, in consultation with the District Technology Coordinator and other appropriate staff.
- Prepares requisitions and details information sheets for the ordering of technology equipment, software or supplies, where appropriate, checks orders as they arrive, corrects shipping errors and maintains records.
- Gives proper attention to the care and protection of school property and uses materials economically.
- Maintains cordial and workable professional and social relationships with other members of the professional and non-professional staff.
- Adheres to and promotes the philosophy and objectives of the school, the administrative staff and the Board of Education and interprets the policies and programs of the district in a positive and constructive manner.
- Performs all other duties as assigned by the District Technology Coordinator and the Superintendent of Schools.
TERM OF EMPLOYMENT:
12 Months. Salary to be determined by the Board of Education.
EVALUATION:
Performance will be evaluated in accordance with state law and the provisions of the Board of Education's Policy on Evaluation of Non Certified staff.
