Job Description
POSITION:
Mail Messenger
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma/GED
- Valid New Jersey driver's license
- Ability to carry mail and packages weighing up to 75 pounds.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions and adhere to prescribed procedures.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and the general public.
- Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status.
REPORTS TO:
Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds
JOB GOAL:
District mail pickup and delivery.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Pick up mail and packages from, and deliver to, the district's Schools, Buildings and Programs as directed.
- Pick up and deposit out-of-district mail at the post office.
- Assist with deliveries to other postal carriers (such as UPS and FedEx) as directed by the Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds or the School Business Administrator.
- Follow mail route to be determined by Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds. A copy of this route will be filed in the supervisor's office and the office of the School Business Administrator.
- Is available for special board runs or deliveries for the Superintendent of Schools or School Business Administrator.
- Perform other duties as required by the Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds or the School Business Administrator.
TERM OF EMPLOYMENT:
10 Months. Salary to be determined by the Board of Education.
EVALUATION:
Performance will be evaluated in accordance with Board policies and procedures on the evaluation of professional staff.
