POSITION:
Painter/Maintenance Utility Person
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma/GED
- Five years' experience in industrial and commercial painting
- Experience in carpentry and masonry
- Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status
REPORTS TO:
Maintenance Supervisor and School Business Administrator
JOB GOAL:
To provide help and assistance to the carpenter, electrician, mason and any other jobs assigned by the supervisor
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Construct, erect, install and repair structures and fixtures of wood, plywood and wallboard using carpenter's hand tools and power tools.
- Study blueprints, sketches or building plans for information pertaining to type of material required, such as lumber or fiberboard, and dimensions of the structure or fixture to be fabricated.
- Select specific types of lumber and other materials.
- Prepare layout, using rule, framing square and calipers.
- Shape materials to prescribed measurements, using chisels and planes.
- Mark cutting and assembly lines on materials, using pencil, chalk and marking gauge.
- Assemble materials and fasten them together with nails, dowels or glue.
- Verify trueness of structure with plumb and carpenter's level.
- Erect framework for structure with lay sub flooring.
- Build stairs, lay out and install partitions and cabinet work.
- Cover sub floor with building paper, lay hardwood, parquet and wood strip block floors, and asphalt tiles.
- Apply shock absorbing, sound deadening and decorative paneling to ceiling and walls.
- Install prefabricated window frames, doors, doorframes, weather stripping, interior and exterior trim, and finish hardware such as locks and kick plates.
- Construct forms and chutes for pouring concrete.
- Erect scaffolding and ladders for assembling structures above ground level. May weld metal parts to steel structures.
- Finish carpentry, such as installing interior and exterior trim, building stairs, laying hardwood floors.
- Perform general carpentry, painting and finishing.
- Repair all types of furniture.
- Locate to repair leaks on roofs.
- Repair roof, lay roll roofing, lay shingles and flashings.
- Repair doors and windows.
- Glaze window with putty, polyglaze and paint
- Repair and replace door and window locks.
- Repair and install ceramic tile.
- Mix, pour and finish concrete.
- Construct bulletin boards, picture and banner frames
- Replace pencil sharpeners, towel, and toilet tissue dispensers.
- When specific trade job is completed, be able to assist in any phase of maintenance work that may arise
- Have ability to use the proper type of paints, such as interior, exterior, metal, etc.
- Have ability to layout and pain signs, gym floors and other graphic paintings.
TERM OF EMPLOYMENT:
12 Months. Salary to be determined by the Board of Education.
EVALUATION:
Performance will be evaluated in accordance with Board policies and procedures on the evaluation of professional staff.
