POSITION:

Painter/Maintenance Utility Person

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. High School Diploma/GED 
  2. Five years' experience in industrial and commercial painting
  3. Experience in carpentry and masonry 
  4. Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status 

REPORTS TO:

Maintenance Supervisor and School Business Administrator

JOB GOAL:

To provide help and assistance to the carpenter, electrician, mason and any other jobs assigned by the supervisor 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Construct, erect, install and repair structures and fixtures of wood, plywood and wallboard using carpenter's hand tools and power tools. 
  2. Study blueprints, sketches or building plans for information pertaining to type of material required, such as lumber or fiberboard, and dimensions of the structure or fixture to be fabricated. 
  3. Select specific types of lumber and other materials. 
  4. Prepare layout, using rule, framing square and calipers. 
  5. Shape materials to prescribed measurements, using chisels and planes. 
  6. Mark cutting and assembly lines on materials, using pencil, chalk and marking gauge. 
  7. Assemble materials and fasten them together with nails, dowels or glue. 
  8. Verify trueness of structure with plumb and carpenter's level. 
  9. Erect framework for structure with lay sub flooring. 
  10. Build stairs, lay out and install partitions and cabinet work. 
  11. Cover sub floor with building paper, lay hardwood, parquet and wood strip­ block floors, and asphalt tiles. 
  12. Apply shock absorbing, sound deadening and decorative paneling to ceiling and walls. 
  13. Install prefabricated window frames, doors, doorframes, weather stripping, interior and exterior trim, and finish hardware such as locks and kick plates. 
  14. Construct forms and chutes for pouring concrete. 
  15. Erect scaffolding and ladders for assembling structures above ground level. May weld metal parts to steel structures. 
  16. Finish carpentry, such as installing interior and exterior trim, building stairs, laying hardwood floors. 
  17. Perform general carpentry, painting and finishing.
  18. Repair all types of furniture. 
  19. Locate to repair leaks on roofs. 
  20. Repair roof, lay roll roofing, lay shingles and flashings. 
  21. Repair doors and windows. 
  22. Glaze window with putty, polyglaze and paint 
  23. Repair and replace door and window locks. 
  24. Repair and install ceramic tile. 
  25. Mix, pour and finish concrete. 
  26. Construct bulletin boards, picture and banner frames 
  27. Replace pencil sharpeners, towel, and toilet tissue dispensers. 
  28. When specific trade job is completed, be able to assist in any phase of maintenance work that may arise 
  29. Have ability to use the proper type of paints, such as interior, exterior, metal, etc. 
  30. Have ability to layout and pain signs, gym floors and other graphic paintings. 

TERM OF EMPLOYMENT:

12 Months. Salary to be determined by the Board of Education.

EVALUATION:

Performance will be evaluated in accordance with Board policies and procedures on the evaluation of professional staff.
